Ingredients
Aloe vera
Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf extract
- The large amount of water in the leaves is responsible for aloe’s cooling and hydrating properties, while trace elements and polysaccharides contribute to the soothing and moisturising properties.
- Aloe vera gel has anti-inflammatory effects. An aloe-based cream has been shown to have healing effects in second-degree burns.
- Research has shown that application of aloe vera gel can accelerate the healing of superficial dermatological wounds.
Spearmint
Mentha spicata leaf oil
- Spearmint essential oil provides a fresh, minty scent and imparts a zingy, refreshing feeling. It has natural antibacterial and antimicrobial qualities
Calendula
Calendula officinalis flower extract
- More commonly known as pot marigold, this cheerful plant has a long history of use in traditional medicine.
- An extract produced from the plant has a calming, soothing effect on the skin.
- Topically, marigold flowers have been rubbed on insect bites and stings to help reduce the swelling and discomfort experienced.
Chamomile
Matricaria recutita (German chamomile) flower extract
- Traditionally, chamomile has been used to treat, calm and soothe inflammation. This results from the presence of chamazulene, a compound associated with the aromatic chemistry of chamomiles which has been shown to be anti-inflammatory.
- It is recommended for calming the inflammation and skin irritation associated with insect bites and sweet itch.
Limonene
- Limonene is a naturally occurring compound found mainly in lemon skin.
- It is used to in many natural skincare products and it is used in Skin Soother to improve the way the gel spreads onto the skin. It is also very good at combating germs that may try to grow in the gel over time after the tube has been open, exposed to air and sunlight.
How to use
Squeeze a small amount onto clean fingertips and gently massage into the roots of the hairs, so that the gel is in contact with the skin.
Apply at least once a day or more often as required to provide relief.
For external use only. Do not apply to the eye area, cuts or open wounds. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with clean warm water and seek medical advice. We recommend a small patch test prior to initial use. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Patch test
Test on small area of skin on the neck around the size of two pence piece. Check the area for any signs of an adverse reaction, ie. swelling or irritation and wash off immediately with warm water if necessary. Leave for 48 hours before continuing.
